Mary Doherty
Mary Doherty joined the PFC board in 2011. A big fan of independent film, her movie tastes have been described as “critically-acclaimed cerebral.” When not petitioning the FDA to make movie-theater popcorn a major food group, she handles all marketing for the local CPA firm of Varner Sytsma Herndon (VSH.) She brings more than a decade of marketing, public relations and non-profit development experience to the PFC board. She enjoys exploring the outdoors with her two daughters as a runner, skier, kayaker and mountain biker.
  Patrick Dizney
Patrick has been a fan of art house films since he saw the Jean de Florette series in the early 80’s. He teaches theatre and film at WWU, does a little film work with LAB Films NW and occasionally acts in front of the camera and on stage. The Pickford was a natural match for Patrick, as his interests lie in independent film, education and community building. Patrick has been on the board since spring of 2010.
  Ben Frerichs
Ben Frerichs’ career in Economics spans teaching secondary school through graduate students, managing economic development for a city, and many years as a consultant for private and public decision-makers. As a film buff, who probably reads twenty movie reviews for every one movie he sees, Ben has been a member of and supported of PFC for more than five years. He is a returning resident to Bellingham who is grateful that PFC expands his options for film and arts culture in Whatcom County.
  Deborra Garrett
Deborra Garrett has been a film lover and fan of the Pickford for a long time. When she’s not at the movies she’s a mother, a llama farmer, and a partner at the Bellingham law firm of Zender Thurston, where she helps clients with employment law issues. Deborra joined the Board in 2010, and she’s excited about helping the Pickford settle into our new facility and develop new ways to promote good cinema in Whatcom County.
Jason Heck
Jason Heck joined the board in January, 2010. He currently teaches as WWU, and works part time as a political consultant. He loves all kinds of film but has a soft spot for campy horror flicks. He is excited about expanding the Pickford's already impressive operations, and is also strongly devoted to the vision of having a local movie theater that has a bar attached.
Emily Jones
Emily joined the board in May 2010 though she has been a member and huge Pickford fan since moving to town in 1998. A lifelong cinephile, she appreciates the diversity of films the Pickford offers and the opportunity to watch them in a locally supported, independently operated theatre. When not watching movies or working to spread the word about the Pickford Film Center, Emily spends her time teaching 5th graders to read, write and think. She loves living in Bellingham with her wonderful husband, wily dog, and two furry cats.
Brian Sibley
Brian Sibley is founder and president of Sibley Public Relations. He joined the board in March 2009. He’s been a film buff since 1977, when his parents took him to see the original Star Wars film. Brian brings a background in marketing to the PFC, which helps the organization to reach new audiences, create new opportunities and bring diverse groups of people together to celebrate film and film-making.
